Hikma Takes Part in 54th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos

Amman, 21 January 2024 – Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (Hikma, Group), the multinational pharmaceutical group, and a long-standing Health Industry Partner of the World Economic Forum (WEF), joined leaders from the government, business and civil societies to address the state of the world and discuss priorities for the year ahead at the 54th Annual Meeting of WEF in Davos, Switzerland, held under the theme ‘Rebuilding Trust’between 15 and 19 January 2024.
The deliberations at WEF 2024 convened participants, including ministers and officials from across the globe, focused across four key themes: Achieving security and cooperation in a fractured world; Creating growth and jobs for a new era;Artificial Intelligence as a driving force for the economy and society; and A long-term strategy for climate, nature, and energy.
Mazen Darwazah, Hikma’s Executive Vice Chairman and President of MENA, was part of a panel titled “MENA’s Economic Dilemma: Reforming Amid Uncertainty.” Speaking on the panel, Darwazah emphasised the importance of proactive and collaborative strategies in navigating the challenges posed by public debt levels, rising global interest rates and heightened geopolitical instability, which are impacting the economic outlook in the MENA region.
During the panel discussion, Darwazah underscored the need to adopt resilient and adaptable approaches, fostering innovation, sustainable practices, and strategic partnerships to facilitate progress. In his comments, Darwazah said: “Local businesses and multinationals alike should always act ethically and continue to progress their responsibility agendas toward their people, the local community and the environment.”
