Anamel Jordan Hosts Award Ceremony for National Mosaic Outdoor Bench Design Competition in Madaba

Madaba, Jordan – Under the patronage of HRH Princess Wijdan Al Hashemi, Anamel Jordan for Traditional Crafts Education and Development, in collaboration with the Greater Madaba Municipality and the Madaba Institute for Mosaic Art and Restoration, hosted the award ceremony for the first national competition of designing outdoor benches using the traditional art of mosaic. The event took place at the Institute’s premises in the historic city of Madaba on Monday, June 29, at 11:00 AM.
This unique competition welcomed artists and designers from across the Kingdom to submit creative proposals for outdoor mosaic benches that blend contemporary design with elements of Jordanian cultural heritage. Entries were carefully reviewed by a panel of judges from Anamel Jordan, the Greater Madaba Municipality, the Madaba Institute for Mosaic Art and Restoration, and the Jordanian Engineers Association – Madaba Branch. Designs were evaluated based on their creativity, visual appeal, durability, comfort, and ability to authentically reflect the cultural identity of the region.
The competition is designed to inspire and support young Jordanians by encouraging their creative expression and involvement in cultural industries. By blending the timeless craft of mosaic with modern public design, it not only celebrates artistic innovation but also brings new life to Jordan’s historic architecture and transforming traditional homes into vibrant, inclusive spaces that preserve and promote our rich cultural heritage.
After careful evaluation, the winners were announced as follows: First Prize: Ms. Rima Aqel, Second Prize: Ms. Farah Al-Najada, and Third Prize: Ms. Sonia Twaal. More than an award ceremony, this event represents a celebration of talent, heritage, and the creative spirit of Jordan. It also reinforces Madaba’s status as a thriving hub for cultural tourism and artistic excellence, in alignment with the National Culture Strategy 2023–2027.

The event was highly appreciated on a local level and witnessed the official attendance of several distinguished guests, along with an elite group of artists, architects, and public figures. Their presence added exceptional value to the occasion, reflecting the cultural significance and broad impact of the initiative.
