Hikma Participates in World Economic Forum Annual Meeting2023 in Davos

Amman, 22 January 2023: Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (Hikma), the multinational pharmaceutical company, has participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2023. The high-profile eventtook place this year between 1620 January in Davos, Switzerland, under the theme Cooperation in a Fragmented World’.

A longstanding WEF Health Industry Partner, Hikma joined thousands ofleaders from government, business and civil society to address the state of the world and discuss priorities for the year ahead in light of the ongoing crises necessitating bold collective action. The four days featured numerous sessions covering a wide spectrum of formats for interaction and learning, broadly focusing on dialogues to forge understanding and alignment and exchange insights; gatherings of communities of purpose to drive tangible action on key global issues; and opportunities for foresight and discovery to scale societycritical innovations.

Engaging in constructive, forward-looking conversation to find solutions through public-private cooperation, Hikma Executive Vice Chairman and President of MENA, Mazen Darwazah, represented the company as a panellist in two sessions; ‘Accelerating Gender Parity in STEM’ and ‘Advancing Good Governance’.

During the first session, Darwazah tackled the importance of gender diversity in STEM fields and elaborated on the initiatives and programmes Hikma has implemented over the years to enhance inclusion and equity across its various locations. In the second session, Darwazah emphasised the significance of adopting a multi-stakeholder approach that bringstogether diverse stakeholders with common interests to devise and implement anti-corruption and good governance laws, policies and initiatives. Within this context, Darwazah reaffirmed Hikma’s commitment to global anti-corruption efforts as a founding member of the Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI) a cross-industry collaborative endeavour established through the WEF and as a signatory member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) since 2007.

Commenting on Hikma’s participation in this year’s WEF, Darwazah said: The WEF Annual Meeting has always been a powerful platform for advocating dialogue and promoting public-private cooperation to spur long-term positive change for a better world, and this year’s event was no exception.” He added, “Considering the diversity and complexity of the challenges being faced across the globe today, it was important for us to come together in person to discuss and address a multitude of topics,exchanging experiences and driving policies that will shape the post-pandemic future so that economies, businesses and communities can thrive and prosper once again.
